Sunday Meeting Schedule

Sisters,

Because next week, March 31 is Easter, we will not meet as a Relief Society.  Also, the following weekend, April 7, is General Conference.

Don't forget to stock up on your food storage if you can.  This week's item is beans.  Buy 1 dried bag per person or 3-5 cans per person.  Get a variety that your family will eat.

Additional Relief Society Meeting September

Thursday, September 20 at 7 pm.
Family Tree Project or Indexing Class.

Please provide your own supplies for this project. All supplies can be found at any craft store. You should expect to spend around $5-$7 for supplies, not including the frame. Remember many store coupons can be found online to help you save.

Keep in mind, you are able to customize this family tree to your taste. If you like green leaves, get that color card stock paper. If you would prefer a white background instead of cream, get that. I do recommend getting large sheets of artist drawing paper, instead of poster board, as it will not fade with time. Any brand will work. Do your best to keep the sheets flat until the class.

Supplies:
19x25 brown drawing paper (tree)
19 x 25 cream drawing paper (background)
3 sheets of  8 1/2 x 11 inch cardstock for male names (ex: red)
3 shets of 8 1/2 x 11 inch cardstock for female names (ex: orange)
16 x 20 inch frame or mat (you don't have to have this the night of the class)

Relief Society will cover your glues.

Before the Class:
You will need to compile a list of 4 generations of family members, including birthdate. (You, your spouse, parents, grandparents, and great grandparents. You can include your children)

These names can be typed ahead of time, or handwritten. Please contact Sister Hooste if you would her to email a template to type your names. You will want to print these out on your cardstock prior to our meeting. All female names should be on one color cardstock, while all the male names should be on the other. If you plan on handwriting the names, just bring your paper to the class. We will have pens for you.

Upcoming Events September - October

Chocolate Order is due to Sister Cheri Whitworth. Please check with her if you would like to order your bulk chocolate.

Granny's Attic

The "Back to School - Grannys Attic" will be Saturday, August 18 from 9:00 till noon at the Hurst Stake Center.  All are welcome to donate items of clothing, shoes, etc for this event. We as a Ward have the opportunity to provide packets of pens and glue sticks to help those in our area with provisions for their children as they start back to school.

Walmart has packages of pens for 97 cents and glue sticks for 10 cents each.  There will be a container in the foyer on Sunday for these items, and the container will remain there until Sunday August 12.  Your donations can be given to Cheri or myself.  Thank you for your help.

We are midway through another month, we know that lives are very busy and appreciate all you do.  We encourage you to contact your sisters, either by phone, a letter or a phone call.  Thank you!

Things to know

We are changing things up to having an Additional Relief Society Meeting just once a quarter. We are in the works for planning a Practical Emergency Preparedness for June and will keep you posted!

More things just to know:
The Stake will be having another granny's attic exchange in August.

In September we are planning a fun, affordable family tree project. Keep that in mind as you are doing your family research. You will need to have the name & birthdates of the husband & wife as well as the same information for their parents, grandparents, and great grandparents. There will also be an indexing class for those interested.

May Temple Trip

Due to a conflict we have postponed the Temple trip until Thursday, May 24th at 8:30 am. We hope that this will not inconvenience anyone. Please contact Sister Jordan if you plan to attend to arrange carpool.

Granny's Attic

There have been many questions about Granny's Attic.

When is it?
Fri & Sat Aug. 19th & 20th

Where is it?

What is Granny's Attic?:
Is an area for members of our stake to shop, for free, from donated items.

What can be donated?
Clear out your closets for gently used items you no longer need to donate. Adult & children's clothing, shoes, & bedding items are most needed. If you have larger items such as appliances, you may take a photo of that item that has your name & phone number. You will be contacted to arrange pick up if your item is wanted.

Who can come?:
All members in our stake are invited to shop the donated items. However, Friday night is for those that may have more of a need, and have their Bishop's invitation. Saturday morning all members in the stake are able to attend.

I want to donate, where do I take my stuff?:
Currently, Sister Whitworth is collecting items from our ward for the Granny's Attic. You can give these items to her through Wednesday, Aug 17. She will be delivering items Th. Aug 18.

We are also collecting crayons for the stake school supply drive. These can be given to any member of the Relief Society.
